Can only run cuts from aboslute coords

whenever I try to set start form to current position or user origin i get the error “cut might be out of bounds” but it works fine if i use absoute coords. any advice?

When you run jobs with Absolute Coords, LightBurn knows exactly where the bed is, so it works every time. With Current Position or User Origin, the software depends on you to tell it where zero is. If the job would run off the bed from that point, you’ll see the “out of bounds” warning.

To use those modes, home your machine first, then either place the laser head where you want the job to start (for Current Position) or jog it to a spot and press Set Origin (for User Origin). If you just want it simple and reliable, stick with Absolute Coords.

Check our guide on Origin setup.

Imagine the Lightburn grid sitting on top of your laser (like a top-down view). Home the laser or Set Origin in the front-left corner (this puts you in Quadrant 1 for Lightburn). Then where your design is located in the grid, that is where the laser is going to burn.

The only exception is when using the Rotary, where Currnet Position works better.

That is normal. As long as your sure your project will fit on the size of your machine you can just ignore the message
