Can you turn on a cut frame in the software?

is there a way to have frame on the grid that shows how far I can place items - so I don’t get the dreaded frame slop message

There are several options. When you know your excess movement length you can use the “docking” function to your advantage. Either for individual objects/shapes or, as shown in picture 2, you draw a frame with T1 or T2, which represents your laser working surface and use it to keep track of the distance to the edge alarm.

You can get this if your speed causes overscan to occur that goes outside of the working area.

This is computed within the Ruida, so you can’t really set it, so to speak.

Faster speed longer time to accelerate and reach speed to engrave.

In the Preview window, the green rectangle shows the machine travel limits and, with Show traversal moves turned on, everything must be inside those lines.

The LightBurn workspace (the main grid) doesn’t show overtravel, but in Absolute Coordinates mode it corresponds directly to the machine platform, so you can position designs away from the sides.

My rule of thumb is to keep things at least 50 mm from the edge of the LightBurn workspace, then verify with Preview before Firing The Laser. That works well for my machine engraving around 300 mm/s; your overscan will certainly be different.
