Cancel Laser Project

I have a Gweike Laser and when I turn it on sometimes the head will drift over and need to run the previous project again to reset. I have tried hitting pause and then stop but it does not reset. How do I clear whatever memory it is holding on to so I can start a new project without having to let it run its course and reset on it own?

You probably have a Ruida controller on your machine… you can post a photo of the controller or you can identify it for us… you need to know what it is for a good response.

Here is the right side of my laser and it’s electronics bay… yours should be similar…

My Ruida looks like this…

It’s console looks like this…

If the machine is running a ‘job’ you can press ‘start/pause’ and it will pause, then if you press ‘esc’ it will abort the job… pressing start/pause again will resume the job.

The reset will cause it to perform a home operation, in simple terms it will reboot the Ruida…

You probably have something similar…

Hope this answers your question … if not speak up

Thanks for responding. My Machine doesn’t look like that. When I turn it on my laser head starts moving and when I push the button it starts a job I did the day before. I’m not sure how to clear it.

I don’t think I can help you without knowing what kind of hardware the controller is…

Maybe @JohnJohn knows about these machines…

Hang in there…

I have it on good authority that the Gweike Cloud machines do have a Ruida controller (similar to Jack’s) under the hood - inside the engraver somewhere.

You may be able to delete the old files from a control panel on the outside of the machine. I’d love to see pics of the outside control panel (if so equipped) and the motion planner inside the machine.

That would go a long way toward helping.
Thanks!

I don’t believe the Gweike Cloud machines have an additional control panel on. The only control interface is the large button on top.

I’d suggest enabling File List from Window->File List and seeing if you can remove the file from memory that way.

From the description… it sounds like it had a power failure or thought it did and it’s trying to finish the job it was running at the time…

I know mine comes up from a power failure and asks if you want to continue… without a machine console I have no idea what it does? I didn’t even know they ran without one… :exploding_head:

As I’ve mentioned before the Ruida is pretty dumb when it comes to doing much except driving the head around and firing the laser…

Mine seems to ignore the Ethernet port (probably usb also?) when it’s ‘busy’ running a job… There must be a way to query it, I hope … I’ve tried to ‘talk’ to it but it seems to just ignore me…

I’m clueless how Lightburn know when the file is loaded correctly or it fails… I also didn’t think you could stop it from the computer - only the console…

@berainlb suggestion … I’d like to know if you can access the files when it’s operating…

@tt9223 … Can you turn power off the lps (laser power supply) separately from the machine? If you can do this, you can let it run and the laser won’t fire… safer to work on…

If you cause an error, such as lift the lid, will it stop and allow any kind of control ? — I kind of doubt it … but.

That’s about all I can suggest at this point except go to the Gweike site and ask them… what have you got to lose… ? Should be a relatively simple request for them.

I’ve always been able to stop a running job with the Stop button in Laser window. I’m on ethernet over WiFi.

I’ll try to check this later. But my suggestion wasn’t about doing this during a running job. It was piggybacking on @JohnJohn’s idea that there might be an errant file on the controller and how to remove it without having a Panel control.

She states …

This sounds like it’s trying to do a power fail recover…

That’s what I was pointing out … if that’s the case I don’t know if it will respond.

Maybe we should clarify what exactly is happening… ?

Most of my Ruida stuff is hands on the console. Most of it’s life it’s been in the garage and the pc is in the work room inside… I don’t run it without me sitting there…

Update: Gweike determined that one of the sensors are bad and it can not properly align. Since I have only had the machine for a few weeks they are replacing it. Hopefully that fixes the issues. Thanks so much for all the support.

Sometimes it pays to just ask, especially with a new machine…

Nevertheless I’m glad you have a solution to the issue… Hope you won’t be down long…

Good luck
