Cannot connect MillMage on Mac mini to my X-Carve Pro

I have confirmed that I am able to connect to and control my X-Carve Pro 4x4 with my Mac mini through Easel. However, only receive a Waiting for connection… with MillMage. I have also seen a Port already in use? message and completely uninstalled Easel from my Mac, eliminating any port conflicts.

I am running the latest firmware for the X-Carve Pro, Grbl 1.1h-XCPd.20230214a.

I have tried turning on DTR signal and setting the baud rate to 57600, but with no success.

Is the USB connector on the Mini a USB-C version?

If so, the typical solution is to insert a dirt cheap USB hub between the Mini and the CNC. This is a common Lightburn solution, but it may still apply. IOS on a USB-C will not always automatically downshift from USB 3.0 to the USB 2.0 required by the controller board. Having a USB-A hub between them forces the downshift.

No it is the orginial cable that came with the X-Carve Pro, and it is plugged into a USB hub.

Thanks for the response.

Sorry I cannot help more, Windows guy.

Chatting with the team, appears there are issues with the default profile bundle for the X-Carve. This is slated for an update in the next release. For now, the suggestion offered is to turn OFF DTR and set the baud to 57600. @soniclab, one of our support team members has more experience than I with this setup, so I’m pinging him for his feedback.

Do you see an active COM port in the pull down menu in the Laser Window?

Also make double sure you are not running Easel in the background.

Please note that the default profile for the X carve Pro 4x4 appears to be borked. So please don’t use provided bundle, sorry for that.

Try this bundle.
