My cuts do not seem to be smooth. On circles, the problem is mainly at 10 and 4 o’clock. Also seems to be on my y axis. more so than my z axis.
I have performed all the normal tests, backlash, steps, etc.
This is a DIY build and my geometry seems to be spot on.
My Y axis is driven by a single motor with a shaft that runs the length of the Y axis.
Could the coupler cause this type of issue?
In reality, I doubt it, since it would have to be on ‘some’ multiple of the circle.
If the coupler makes 1 revolution to the X moving around the circle, then maybe, but doubt that’s the case. Not that it couldn’t be an aggregating factor.
If the geometry is on, then that only leaves some type of mechanical issue.
The hardware and software has been beat up pretty well, so I’d look at other mechanical issues. Belts, loose screws…
It almost semed lke the two Y sides were fighting each other. So i wrapped the couplers with tape, to minimize or dampen any torsion effect, and to my surprise the problem went away.
Going to swap out the couplers with a different type.
I suspect the main culprit was the middle coupler, as that divides the two sides. I might just replace axle with a single instead of double.
