It seems that there will be no further updates for Mac OS12.7.6 users as the latest version 2.2 requires OS13. I am disappointed as my MacBook has until now been quite adequate. I recently upgraded to the Pro version but now cannot get the new features without buying a new computer.
I don’t know how “technical” you are, but I’m running this OpenCore Legacy Patcher on my 2 MBPs from 2014, my current MacOS is Sequoia 15.7.4 (and of course the latest version of LB) and it runs like clockwork.
Ah ha! I tried that. Am I correct in thinking that the new OS is stored on a drive? I tried downloading but kept getting a message no drive could be found.
Hi Colin, no, not quite that easy, unfortunately.
Very primitively explained, older Macs are “manipulated” in their system base so that they can receive and work with original updates from Apple.
Sequoia 15.7.4 is the current MacOS that is supported by OCL Patcher on many old Mac computers.
If you are interested in this opportunity to extend the life cycle of your Mac, you should seriously consider OCL Patcher and read their entire explanation and disclaimer. I will not be able to help you with this decision nor with support, I am only a relatively ignorant user when it comes to OS.
But my practical experience is that I do not notice anything at all that my MBPs are running an OS not supported by Apple.
