Can't connect laser to lightburn

I just received my laser engraver ( LONGER RAY5 130W Laser Engraver, 20W Output). I downloaded Lightburn and tried to connect the engraver. The percentage on Lightburn stops at 35% and I receive a message on the engraver that says “HARD LIMIT”.

What does that mean? Did I download Lightburn properly? I have an HP Envy laptop, could it be the computer compatibility?

Hopefully someone is able to help me troubleshoot! Thank you in advance.

This means you (your program) told the laser to go beyond the physical limit of the machine. Either your design is too big or it needs to be moved towards the center of the table. Easy fix.

I didn’t create a design. I downloaded Lightburn and the first thing I tried to do is connect the laser. This 35% is happening when trying to connect.

Just to clarify,… does the bed size set in lightburn match the actual size?

Can you take a screen capture of the message and include it in your Reply? I am not sure what is happening here because Lightburn does not usually report a percentage when connecting to the laser.

I didn’t set anything in Lightburn before trying to connect the laser. I am brand new to this and have not messed with the program at all. Where do I adjust the bed size and how to I know what size it actually is? Is it the working area of the machine like the inside dimensions?

Do you have the DSP license? If yes, did you try a manual install instead of trying to automatically connect?

Welcome to the Lightburn forum!

Yes.
If you are starting now with laser machines, I recommend you start from the beginning.
Start reading this and move forward one step at a time.

I have a control board like yours (MKS DLC32) but I am not sure if the same software, but I think you have to unlock touching “yes” in the screen.
That error appears when limit switches are triggered.
