I have had my Sculpfun S30 for a week now. Was working fine now I can’t get it to connect. I’ve turned it off and on rebooted computer, reinstalled driver, changed COM and tried different ones listed, and switched USB ports even bought a new USB cord. It will not connect!!! HELP!! I have customers waiting on orders!!!

With the engraver powered off and disconnected, turn the computer on and launch LightBurn.

Since you’ve been using LightBurn for a week, I have to ask. Have you produced previous engravings that you like and / or produced a materials test?

The reason I’m asking is that LightBurn saves a Preferences File and we should be able to reinstall all your settings from when it was working last.

In LightBurn, when setting up a connection, It’s helpful to watch the Console window and the Laser window. If they’re not yet active, you can activate them in the Window menu in the top row. Click Window and then confirm the Console and Laser options show a check mark indicating that you’ve selected them.

Power up the Sculpfun S30 and connect the usb cable last.

Windows systems usually chime when the USB connects. Let me know if this happens.

In the Laser window, there’s a button in the middle of the bottom row. When you click that button, you should have an optional Com port like COM3 or COM5. Select one and watch the Console window. In a few seconds you may see a message from the Sculpfun saying that it connected. If you get nothing after several seconds, test to see if you’ve got another Com port for another option.

Please report back and let us know where you’re stuck.

You may have already found this…

i’m also have problem connection with sculpfun s30 pro max. I have lightburn version 1.30 and tried version 1.40. Problem is solved if i install version 1.10

What’s your exact problem? The laser is not detected automatically, you should add it manually. The guide is here: Setting up the software - Diode Laser Wiki

Lightburn not detect laser, still in wait for connection, but detect com port and say ready. If i close lightburn and open lasergrbl laser connect normally

As I said, LightBurn won’t detect the laser automatically. Just add the laser manually. Choose the correct COM port afterward and then you should connect fine. Make sure you started the laser fresh and did not connect to it with LaserGRBL before.

No, lightburn still in wait for connection……

How did you add your laser? Which type did you select?

Grbl laser in com5 set 115000 speed

So, the type of your added laser is “grbl” (and no other option)? And you selected COM5, which you also connect in LaserGRBL? Did you disconnect in LaserGRBL? Only one tool can access the COM port at a time.

Yes, grbl without other option. I know that only one tool and one software can use same com port at same time.

Ok, sounds weird then. The only thing you might try is to remove the USB and power cable, plug back in and then try to connect with LightBurn. You could even leave it on while unplugging. If this fails, I think I’m running out of ideas. You might send a video of the process, this might help a little.

I’m having the same issue with my Ender 3 S1. I was running 1.3 with no issue and after upgrading to 1.4 it cannot connect. My laptop is still running 1.3 and it work fine.

Any known issue with compatibily?

Ender 3 S1 is a Marlin controller.

I upgraded last Sat.to 1.4 version also and its been fine until today. I have a ruida controller I hi reset by mistake and now I can’t connect to LightBurn … But I tried my stool d1 pro and it won’t connect either now I don’t know what to do. I just got my xtool laser at Christmas and I really haven’t had any problems with LightBurn until today and I am kind of lost any help would be appreciated >>
