Can't cut through 1/8" hardboard despite slow speed and high power

I have a ~ 40 watt “china blue” generic laser with a Ruida controller and have been using RDWorks up until now. Really want to see if LightBurn can work better for us.
Can engrave and cut through the hardboard with ease using RDWorks. 10mm/sec and 60% power does it for me. However, no matter what I set the LightBurn parameters to, I can’t get it to cut through. I even try multiple passes, up to 3 and it still won’t do it for me.

Am probably doing something wrong and would appreciate some guidance,

Ruida / LightBurn won't cut below 10mm/s

This isn’t a LightBurn issue, but a Ruida one that’s quite common. There’s a controller setting called “Start Speed” that defaults to 10mm/sec. At that speed, power starts ramping up from Min Power to Max Power. Cutting at or below that speed means you’re using Min Power only, so if you’re cutting slow, set both Min and Max power the same and you’ll have no issues.
