Can't find / connect to laser

I have a new laptop that I am try to connect to my laser and not having any luck. Here is my setup

Omtech 55 watt co2
Windows 11
Latest version of lightburn with ftdi drivers installed
Both laser and laptop powered off and turned back on
I have tried 3 different network cables
I have tried 2 different USB cables
LightBurn won’t find the laser
I added it manually using USB and also added manually using network and still can’t connect to laser

Any ideas?

You may have to create the device manually.

I know a number of these have been connected via Ethernet, instead of USB.

Ethernet is a much better way to connect as it uses the same software you use to talk on the internet, so it’s better to have it on your local lan.

If you want to use usb, then you have to make sure your PC has the proper drivers. If you do have the proper drivers, then you should be able to see the device in the windows device manager.

For us to help you, pick which way you want to connect, USB or Ethernet. Using Ethernet eliminates any driver issues.

I have tried manually adding the laser using USB and ethernet and neither one worked.

Telling us neither worked doesn’t help us help you.

If you tried Ethernet, can you see the laser on your lan?

If you tried USB can you see the Ruida in the device manager on the PC?

Which one do you want to get working?

Target or pick one, we can’t really deal with two problems at a time.

Not a windows person, but I’d pick either 10 or 11 for windows. At least until you can talk to the machine.

I am on windows 11, I do not see laser on network. I tried to ping the laser ip address and did not get a repsonse

Do you know the address of the Ruida?

You are aware the Ruida has a static IP?

Where did you find it’s IP?

What is the domain of your lan?

:smiley_cat:

Yes, I know the ip of the ruida controller, I set it to 192.168.0.100 in the network config on the laser , my laptop is 192.168.0.60

Is this a OMTech Polar?

I thought it was 192.168.1.100 … this video seems to agree and may be worth watching on configuring an OMTech Polar.

There is a different with Ethernet if it’s plugged directly into your pc or you are going though a lan.

How are you doing this?

:smiley_cat:

I found another USB cable and it worked. It is weird because I tried the other USB cables that did not work on my laptop connecting to my phone and they worked fine. Not sure why this other cable works and the other do not.

It is not a polar, if is about 4 years old

For some reason I thought it was a polar, then I realized it didn’t make and difference. With a machine console you can change the IP, whereas the older polar machine with no console cannot.

Did you get it to connect?

:smiley_cat:

Yes, got it connected using USB cable
