Hi I can’t seem to get the size of the objects drawn to stay locked. In the capture below I have drawn a rectangle with the size nominated as 150 in sizing boxes and have the lock but it always stays as a rectangle and not changing the width or height as an equal measurement. Or am I supposed to type in both width and height, I thought the lock would make them the same if changed one.
Hi Carey,
If the lock icon is “on” LightBurn will maintain the ratio of the two sides.
So, I draw a 10 x 8 rectangle and later change the long dimension to 20, the short dimension will change to 16 thereby maintaining the ratio.
A drawn rectangle with locked dimensions will always be a rectangle. If you want a square, unlock the dimensions and enter the same value for both X and Y. Then lock to maintain the square.
The lock retains the aspect ratio of the shape as it’s scaled in either height or width. So if you increase width, the height will increase proportionally to preserve aspect ratio.
If you want to change the dimensions of the shape individually then disabling the lock will allow height or width to be changed independently of the other.
Thanks Guys I thought it equalled the size in the boxes
This is referred to as the aspect lock.
Check out the documentation where they reference it…
You can lock an object(s) to the workspace…
A selected object(s) can be locked in place by Arrange → Lock selected shapes or by a right click on the object and selecting the same.
I use it in most of my templates…
Have fun…
