I have a 188MB file that I used to be able to open with 1.1.01 and now I have been unable to open it. Lightburn will freeze and I have to force quit the program.
I didn’t downgrade, but I tried opening the file again today and it did open. Maybe I wasn’t patient enough yesterday. It took probably 10-15 min to load, which is much longer than with 1.1.01 but at least it’s working. Once open I can manipulate/edit the file pretty well. I found that trying to use the Trim function in node editing will almost guarantee Lightburn crashes though, which won’t happen with smaller files.
For what it’s worth, I have a brand new Dell XPS laptop with 8-core i7 processor and 32gb of RAM. Generally speaking, not much seems to bog it down.
That’s insane. Is it saved as .lbrn2 or .lbrn? .lbrn2 is much more storage efficient.
However, I’m guessing you must have a huge number of nodes or images in your file. Likely more than required. Are these imports of a bunch of DXF files?
I just checked and it is saved as .lbrn2 although admittedly I didn’t know there were different Lightburn file types haha.
You are correct, there are a lot of nodes. I’m working with map files that contain lots of roads, lakes and lake contours. I’m going through the file and “Optimize selected shapes” to smooth lines and reduce the number of nodes, but the downloaded GIS data has a ton of nodes to start with and there’s not much I can do about that until I open it and edit it.
Well, seems you have a handle on strategies for mitigating it but I think I’d quit if it took 15 minutes to load a file. Or just never close it.
