I am having an issue welding the letters to a shape, the weld buttons are grayed out, I usually use Boolean Union when doing these things but it is grayed out too. Can someone help please?

You have many open shapes in your file, that’s why it didn’t work.
I have corrected it.

A good suggestion, “alt+cmd+o” (on mac) = select open shapes. Whenever boolean operations don’t go as you want….
That is awesome, Thank you! I selected open shapes, everything I could find related under Edit, and nothing would work. You’re a magic maker, Thanks again! Happy Holidays!
Thanks for the nice words. But unfortunately it has nothing to do with magic, otherwise I’d love it
I change the layer property to line, press “alt+cmd+O”, then the unclosed shapes are marked. This is where the “hard” part begins. It is often (also for me) difficult to find the positions where the shapes are broken, especially when the dotted line does not visibly change direction. A good tool here is “start point finder/changer”. From experience I know that many shapes are precise at this point not closed. I pull a little on the green square (in edit mode) and can see that it doesn’t connect with the rest. By only snapping it to its old position back, the line now connects.
The easiest is “cmd+B” which breaks all points/lines and then select it all and reassemble it with “cmd+J”. But when the shape is so involved in other shapes, it is unfortunately not always possible to mark/select all single elements. So here a good spotting eye and a little experience are better suited.
