Change Rectangle into Adjustable Trapezoid?

I have a graphic (a grayscale JPEG) which is a rectangle.

The piece of wood I want to burn it into is not precisely a rectangle. the right side is about 5 mm shorter than the left side.

I want to grab the “node” of the upper right hand corner and drag it down 5 mm so that the picture is no longer a straight rectangle, but a kind of trapezoid… (It won’t warp the picture noticeably.)

Is that possible?

If you wanted to simply make the picture shaped the same as the board you could use a mask.

I want to add a node, 5mm below the right point of your square, then just delete the 5mm segment itself.

if I’m not clear enough, just say so and I’m making a little sketch.

Masks . . . in Lightburn? I didn’t know about those, but I understand the concept from Photoshop. I thought I could probably also “warp” the JPEG in Photoshop, too, but I just wondered if there was a similar feature in Lightburn.

I’m not as familiar with nodes as I should be, but I wondered if nodes even work with JPEGs besides Lightburn line segments. I think my question also has to do with what extent JPEGs can be transformed, warped, masked, and edited in Lightburn.

There are 2 ways to handle this:

One is to cut the picture into shape. That way it is not distorted, you just lose a bit at the edge. For this LB has the feature to cut out (or away) any part of a picture. You create a shape and tell LB to cut the picture accordingly. (There’s a nice chapter on this in the documentation.)

The other on is to distort the image as you asked about. Sorry, no idea on this one.

@JBrondos there are a few videos on using the mask feature including one from Lightburn but this one is one of the best IMHO.
