hi, I have a G-Weike G2 Max fiber laser. I am finding that when I frame a circle it is showing more of an oval shape than a perfect circle. I am trying to make a watch dial and need it to be perfectly round. I hope someone can help. I am new to laser engraving and have only had the machine for a few days, thank you.
Hi Cameron
Are you judging the circle by eye or using the Height and Width adjustments to perfect it.
If its not that its outta my league.
Hi Pete, I have round brass discs and when I frame it,it looks slightly oval rather than a perfect circle. I’m thinking it maybe a setting is wrong in the initial setup. The rectangle frame looks ok.
Well if the height and width aren’t the same you may get what looks circular to the eye on screen but results as an oval.
Top left of your main screen, there is a small padlock symbol and just right of that is the Height/Width adjustments. If they are equal then you have a circle.
Those values may not automatically be equal, you may not have created a perfect circle while clicking and dragging the shape or you may have unlocked the padlock and changed one value but not the other.

I just did a search of Doc’s and past topics, if you search “circles look oval” you might find something relevant.
I had a look at your machine and realised its a completely different thing compared to mine so I have no ideas except to ask, have you engraved the ovate circle and how does it appear, is it good quality but wrong shape or bad all round.
Do the ends meet, in which direction is it Longer eg width or height. If you rotate the design 90deg does it change anything.
Some scrap material or suitable cardboard etc would do for testing..with power reduced.
Maybe how I center coins will help… you decide.
I use the center reference in Lightburn. So I can use P to move a selected item to the center of the work area. Any circle I make can be moved to the center of the work area.
Make a circle of the size you can place your material snugly.
Lay down a few layers of masking tape (I use black) and use the proper circle to cut out the circle or jig.
Peel out the tape and use that as a jig to hold your watch face or coin.
Then you don’t need a framing laser.
