I have a Roland EGX 300 desktop engraver, rescued for my days teaching tech in schools. I currently drive this with a basic CAD system TechSoft 2D Design. I realise Lightburn id primarily aimed at laser machines, question is can Lightburn be used to drive this engraver - just a thought.
It seems it use a Centronics and a Serial 25 pin:

For a CNC mill, look at MillMage. Uses the Lightburn development environment, but has direct machine control if GCode based controller like GRBL. You can also create the GCode and send it over via a memory stick or card.
