CO2 80W engraving on Glass Plaques and Ornaments

I am trying to engrave photographs on Glass Plaques and Glass Ornaments and can’t seem to get the photos to come out so you can see what the photo is. It isn’t recognizable it’s just a blob. Can someone give me some suggestions on what I’m doing wrong. Thank you so much.

Aside from the fact that your profile says a grbl led laser… hope this is an upgrade…

Probably a good idea to update your profile.

You didn’t mention any speed, power, or dpi values nor any kind of photo to give us an idea of what you are doing.

A co2 laser engraves glass by shattering it. Since it’s not a spot like for other materials, it’s more of a broken crater. So the dpi you can expect is probably lower than the spot size.

Most lasers can make a spot about 0.10mm, that would limit your it to 254dpi.

Laser Everything has an excellent video on doing photographs and it’s laid out to be applicable to any laser… It explains what kind of dpi you can use and expect to get good results. People have said good things about this video.

Good luck

I have an 80 W Omtech CO2 laser I use ImagR and Lightburn. Here is the untouched photo and my results.

FYI… I have watched every video that references photo engraving and the video that you referenced 4 times. I follow the steps and those are my results. My mirrors are fine I’ve done that check and all the pulsed dots were in the center of my mirror.

Can we see some photos of the test strips, like that in the video?
