CO2 laser using grbl?

This has to cost more money. Don’t know what these run in the EU, cost wise, but many people here claim they will not pass EU standards. I don’t know, just asking.

Do they sell split fiber systems there without a covering of some sort?

If you made a production run and only had to modify the hardware with a $20 extra cost, if you run 10,000 units, you cost increase is $200,000 extra over the run.

Although I think you’re right on most things, this could be a low cost thing to ignore if you can.

I think you are over estimating the cost.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a wash for the manufacture because they are replacing A, B, C components with D, E, F parts which most likely are close in price.

Maybe so, but a slight change of only $1 makes a $10,000 increase in costs.

I don’t know what the Chinese do, whatever is lower cost.

I’m pretty ignorant about the EU’s legal definition on these. Many we have here won’t pass EU standards according to posts on many sites from the EU.

@misken probably has a good feel about this, but I do not. I just know the Chinese are good at cutting prices to sell more stuff. Even though many of these have specifications on how fast they work and I’ve seen a number that I don’t think make it.

So, I’m just speculation.

I guess it’s mostly because they don’t have those regulations over there. I think, the EU has amongst the most strict user protection regulations, followed by the US and other nations. If they don’t have those themselves, they first stick to their own regulations and export them.
There is no, really NO Chinese diode laser available on the EU market, that complies with the standards, and is allowed to be sold here. I guess the same holds for the US market. Every single diode laser that get’s catched by customs would be rejected. And put on the index. But, in todays global markets and goods streams, it’s very hard to detect them. That’s the only reason you can buy Chinese lasers here.
Some companies like xTool write “class 1” or other certifications on their machines, but those still do not comply to the standards. The K40+ is also a good example. At first glance, they seemed to have obeyed all the rules to make it class 1. One of the rules is to have a door opening protection. So they added a switch to detect it. They even added two switches. But to comply with the rule, you can’t use any switch; you need to use a certified, industry-ready switch. And that’s why they recently upgraded all older machines with new, industry-compliant switches. Just as one example.

There is one legal diode laser on the German market (called Mr. Beam) that costs 3500 € (about $4000) for a 10W diode laser. That’s the cost you have if you respect all the rules, use certified materials, etc.
