CO2 Suggestions

Looking at a few lasers to possibly purchase. Gweike Cloud, OMTech Polar/Polar+, xTool P2. Trying to stay relatively cheap here so the P2/Polar+ are quite a stretch. Are there any issues with the 50/55w Clouds or Polar Lites?

I’d recommend the OMTech Polar Plus as it has a console, instead of a useless idiot light.

The Gweike doesn’t appear to be able to run off Ethernet and have customized firmware. Sometimes doing things you may not want.

The xTool is liked by many but you’d be paying for options that are not accessible from Lightburn.

The lowest cost approach is what a majority of us have done, pick up a Chinese laser that isn’t from one of the mentioned companies at about 1/2 price.

OMTech, Cloudray and other sell a larger size laser you can actually get into and work on.. it will need maintenance and that will end up being your job..

So the decision is back in your lap..

Have questions, sing out.

Thank you. I ended up grabbing the Polar+. Any recommendations for killing some of the visible smoke before exhausting it out a window?

Interesting, that would have been my choice too.

Even with my 40w diode laser cutting, there is not much visible smoke outside the window. It is only the campfire smell that is noticed by the neighbors. The smoke is miniscule compared to a pile of burning leaves.

Any suggestions on things I should stock up on before it arrives or upgrades to it?

fan and exhaust will be your friend. Also, the air compressor, which is audibly louder than most fans, will keep the flame away from your lenses and from ruining some stock.

…improves your cutting performance dramatically.

Check out California Air compressors if you can get them where you live.

Aw. Okay, I just thought it was for safety and to get cleaner sintering. I have an off-the-shelf, costly type that is unbranded (blah), compressor that is tiny in size and creates loud, noisy reverb.

I will look up the CA Air compressors now. Thank you. I have not been compressor shopping in some time. I will not need one any time soon, hopefully. Off to check the brand.

P.S. My compressor is tiny. It is about 12 inches in length and it is solely for supply air to the end where my last beam is located before hitting the stock.
