Coin Engraving with a Fiber Laser

Need some input. I have a customer that would like some stainless steel tags Engraved. I have a diode laser but for the quantity they are looking for it would probably be worth investing in a Fiber Laser to do the job. Tags would be a little over 1 inch in diameter engraved on both sides. My Lightburn license is for grbl so i assume i would have to get a different license. Is the license a different version of lightburn. Can both the grbl and fiber versions exist on the same pc. Is the fiber version easy to use. I would like to to able to engrave multiple blanks at once but don’t want a huge machine. Any recommendation or input on the way to go.

The upgrade to a pro is already there, just not enabled without the proper license.

Bed or working area size is limited by the lens length. I have an F420mm that covers about 300mm square. There exists what’s referred to as a flying galvo head, where the galvo is on a gantry and can move.

Coins take an hour or more to do, are you patient enough? Unfortunately you can’t really tell what it’s going to be until it’s done.

Doubt you’ll find it easy to do multiple coins, but I’ve never tried it myself. They have to have perfect alignment or you eye can see it.

One more question. Does lightburn pro for fiber look the same as if you are running a diode laser. Do all the settings look the same or does it switch back and forth depending if your running a diode laser or fiber laser. I assume you can run both with the pro version

Some options of a regular led laser are not available if it’s not an option that can be changed, so no they really aren’t exactly the same. A majority of it is.

For example, you can’t change the power on a UV laser, so having a power setting isn’t available.

I have visible lasers, co2 and a fiber, I use Lightburn on all of them. I’m also marooned at version 1.7 as I run Linux.
