Need some guidance on setting color palette defaults

Depending on how many different materials and effects you need, the Material Library may be more useful:
Basically, when you have a cut / engraving / etching / whatever that you will use again, you can save those settings with a name for that particular material, where it’s easy to find and apply the next time around.
It also eliminates having to see the difference between two very very similar colors, which is why I use only about three colors for everything. Black, red, blue, maybe green on special occasions: those I can tell apart.
