I picked up some framed pre-painted white canvases on sale from a craft store. I have had pretty good luck with them, but discovered there is a fine line between etching and see-thru.
I paint the canvas white, spray it black then burn the negative into it.
Yes, I know. I read that in another posting. Still amazed you can burn the black and leave the white.
Finding just the right settings is the trick, so lots of materials tests
For those doing 100+ parts, this is no big deal. Cost of doing business. For those doing a lot of one-off projects, this is a substantial portion of the project cost.
