$$ command in console

I just purchased a second laser ,3018 pro cnc for dedicated platform to only use as laser cutting and engraving.
Grbl 1.1f ($for help ) comes up n console window .
When I type in $$ enter no grbl commands come up in console window??
Laser window shows busy and green bar across to 100%

Any ideas why I cannot see grbl settings ??

Do you have ‘auto home on startup’ set? It might be trying to home when you first connect.
