I just bought a Commarker B4 20w fiber. I have experience with a 36w diode and am pretty good with Lightburn. I’m having trouble getting even a material test ran in the ballpark of satisfactory settings.
The individual test looks better than the material test. See setting in photos.
Lens: 110 - lens says focal dist is 163
split: .020
interval:.05

I did a manual focal distance and found 187mm to be the best. Lens says focal dist is 163
What do i have set incorrectly??
The effective focal length is what you need to post, that tells us much more. As you can see from the chart, an F163mm lens has a coverage or 112x112mm… pretty close to your 110x110mm.
I tend and suggest you use the F number, not the coverage area.
Don’t know how you did this, such as where you measured to or from. Lenses are measured form their center to the surface. If the lens is in a mount, which most are and you are measuring from the lens holder to the surface, I’d expect a lower number than the F number.
I measure mine by sound, then read how far…
Are you just trying to remove the mug coating?
I’m not sure of what you mean by "The effective focal length ".
I found the focal distance using LaserEverything’s and Lightburn’s YT videos, using brightness and sound of the laser working. I measured to the bottom of the lens frame. The lens itself is about 2mm below the surface of the lens frame.
The devise settings show the field width and height at 127.5x127.5. When I set up the machine in Lightburn, I manually set it to 110x110. Somehow it changed. Does that matter?
I’m just trying to removed the tumbler paint.
Thanks for any help!
