Does this laser have a redlight diode for framing?
If it does, I can’t get it to work with Lightburn 1.7 on my windows 10 computer. Please offer any info you can to shed some light on this problem. Thanks in advance for your help.
It should, yes.
You can try enabling “Red Dot always on” in the Device Settings.
If it’s still not lighting up, what are the manufacturer’s suggestions for the correct Red Dot port?
Hello,
no, there is no red light on the omni1, that is why they give you that yellow fluorescent acrylic part to help visualize the UV beam
I can see this “Preview Helper” in the manual now, but no information on how to use it.
just place it on top of the object to engrave… the UV beam will be visible and very bright.
not supereasy to align the job, but… that’s how it is.
another way is to paint the object with a fluorescent marker
So, if you click “Frame” the UV laser lights up? - At what power setting? This does not feel safe.
I would not know at what power, but probably very low (surely putting my finger under it feels like nothing)
Thanks for the explanation and the finger-test!
I assume this is regulated in the firmware then.
Maybe, I’m being overly cautious, but I recommend wearing your safety goggles at all times.
I have been investigating UV lasers. From what I see in videos, the ComMarker does NOT have a red light for framing. The Haotian UV laser does have a red light for framing. The price difference in the 2 is significant, the Haotian is $1,400 more at current pricing. I do not know what other differences there are in these 2 brands. They are both 5 watt UV.
Anyway, I can say that the omni1 is a good machine, on top of my 2 fibre and the CO2
One big difference is Hao-Tian is an EzCAD2 controller and ComMarker is BSL. There is a significant cost difference between the two. I personally have the Hao-tian machine and it has “just worked” for me. Which has been nice.
Thanks for that info. I don’t know what the differences are in the 2 boards but I’ll take your advisement that the EzCAD2 is better. I do like that Hao-Tian has the red dot framing feature, but that in and of itself isn’t worth $1,400 to me.
