Communication Error after Deleting All Files

Hello, In short I’m now not able to communicate with my laser over USB, after clicking “Delete All FIles” in the File List tab.

Longer Explanation:
I’ve been working on some papercutting pieces and I’ve been noticing that while cutting lots of shapes on the job, the gantry seems to become uncalibrated(?) and slowly moves over, often to the right of the bed, so later shapes are cut a little further to the right…

I’ve been trying a lot of things to solve this including tightening the belts, and slowing the machine down. Nothing has helped. I decided to see if I could clear the cache, perhaps I went to the wrong place to do so, but I clicked on “Delete All Files” under the File List tab. There were no items in the file list at the time, but I was trying anything to fix my original problem. Communication with the Ruida controller has stopped. Additionally after doing this the controller seemed to have stopped sensing the limit switching so if I tried to move the gantry on the ruida controller, it would make a horrible grinding noise. I’m not sure what I did, but after several reboots of the system and lots of grinding, the machine seems to be stopping at the limits of the bed now. I have not been able to re-establish communication with my computer. Every time i try to send a job, I get “There was a problem sending data to the laser. The machine may be busy or paused.”

(I did mess around with the optimization settings, and not sure if that’s at all related. Not sure if that’s at all related, but I’ve tried to set them back to how they were before.)

I’ve restarted lightburn several time, have attempted to go into device settings, Have rebooted the laser several times, and clicked reset several times. I have also tried unplugging and replugging both ends of the USB cable. Nothing seems to work.
I’ve also tried searching forums here and the OMTech facebook group, but haven’t found a solution yet.

Setup:
old iMac running lightburn 1.0.04
USB Connection
Ruida Controller

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

They have had lots of issues with the Mac and USB. I use Linux and I dumped that connection. The best, I can add is to move to an Ethernet connection. This may be an option…

Might want to post the OS version if it’s an ‘old iMac’.
