Communication with controller failed using Mac

Hi, I’m new at using Lightburn.

  1. I installed the software on my Mac,
  2. then I installed my OMtech laser through “Find my laser” option. It picked up the right and only laser I have.
  3. I can’t access machine settings, the dialog box is blank. It states “communication with controller failed”. I reinstalled and restarted the software and restarted the laser, but keep having the same problem. I’d really appreciate some help!

Hi Ana… welcome to the forum…

Clue us in on how you are connected, USB or Ethernet…

It should say Ready at the top of the laser window.

The error message means it isn’t talking to the controller…

When you invoke the machine settings, Lightburn will query the Ruida controller for the values to populate the gui… the error message is that the operation failed.

I’d suggest Ethernet rather than USB because there is never a driver issue and the systems are more reliable than usb…

Hi Jack, thanks so much for your answer. I’m connected with the usb cable. I tried using Ethernet and it said disconnected every time I tried. With the usb it states “ready” but still can’t read machine settings

Sounds rather odd… if it’s ready it should respond the queries from Lightburn…

How did you connect it to your local network?

Router?

I just figured it out! I clicked “edit”, then “machine settings” and it still was stating communication failed. I clicked “read” on the pop up window and it finally read the settings. It wasn’t pulling the data without clicking on “read” first
Thanks for your help
