Confused by Home/Origin and Coordinates

I have a K40 laser with a Cohesion3D controller.
When I home the machine the laser head moves toward the back left till it hits the limits switches and homes. At this point X=0 and Y=220.
If I use the arrow buttons on the MOVE tab and click the down arrow the laser head moves towards the front of the machine towards me.
But when using the Martial Test tool and click the frame button the Y movements go to the back of the machine till it bottoms out and starts grinding.

Odd this is if I just cut or etch anything it works exactly as expected from the correct position.
2 Questions:

  1. Why when homed why are my coordinates are X=0 and Y=220?
  2. Why does it move backwards and grind at the back of the machine when using the Material test tool?

Shouldn’t home be X=0 and Y = 0 at the back left?
The only way I can get it cut and etch correctly is by setting the DEVICE to have an origin of the front left.

I have the machine configured as 300x200mm, origin is set to left front even though HOME is in the left rear.
I am using Absolute Coordinates.

Lightburn works in the +X,+Y quadrant (called Quadrant 1) only. By being at the front-left, you are at 0,0 in the image. From there, all moves are positive numbers (negative is just less positive).

If you move to the Origin position (front left), does the Lightburn X&Y positions show basically X=0 and Y=0? If so, you are good to go with Absolute Coordinates.

HOME and ORIGIN are not the same thing. Home is a machine reference. Origin is a workspace reference. They do not have to be in the same location, and often are not.

yes if I move the laser as far front left in both axis’s location does show 0,0.

So, the question is why when I run the material test the Y movements go toward the back of the machine?
When I frame and its starts to move in the Y direction its just smashes into the Y limit switch and starts grinding really bad.
