Please help I am new to LightBurn but pretty used to using all sorts of graphics apps.
My first project requires me to duplicate some shapes as many times as I can on an a3 sheet of acrylic. So I created the first shape and either copy and paste or duplicate the shape and then drag from the top centre of the shape and allow it to snap to the bottom centre of the master copy of the shape.
So all looks good until I zoom right in and there I see the lines are not dead on touching each other and rather than displaying as one line as I would expect I can clearly see two lines.
You must set/fine-tune your snap tolerance, this is done under “settings”.
To distribute your items, there is the “array” function, it will make your work much easier. No cutting/copying and pasting, you decide the number of rows and or the total area.
btw, why are there loose ends at the bottom of some figures?
Adding to what Bernd has already covered, Since you’re familiar with other drawing applications be aware that LightBurn’s snapping behavior may be different than what you’re used to.
Hi Bernd. I know about the array function however on this drawing it doesn’t work as I have had to add lines to fire the laser just before it hits the material to make sure makes the cut (if that makes sense?) I have checked my settings and the snap to objects seems to be just on or off?
Hi Bernd, I didn’t see this before sorry. Im a noob and didn’t see the lead in option so did it by hand! Will defo look at this setting. I’ll copy your snap settings and see how I go.
For snapping, one thing that trips people up is that it snaps both when choosing the object to drag AND when dragging to another object. If you grab an object you intend to snap to something else, make sure you grab an edge or point when the cursor changes to one of the snap cursors, and then release when it snaps to something else.
You can also hold the Alt key to make things snappier (increases the distance tolerance for snapping by quite a bit).
