Hello all…
I have a shape that has several curved lines that I think are a series of individual nodes closely spaced. See attached file. Is there a way to connect the nodes so that I can cut them on my laser?
I have tried Break Apart/Auto Join without success (or I’m doing something wrong).
Thank you for your time.
I can’t immediately think of a way of automatically joining all of those ‘points’ into curves. Can you provide any more information on the original file I’m assuming you imported into LB?
Do you have the original file to attach here to have a look at?
You might need to append a .txt to the filename to prevent the forum from rejecting it (just add the .txt after the existing extension, eg .svg.txt or .pdf.txt). It’s getting quite late here so I’ll be off to bed soon but I’ll try to take a look before I retire for the night.
I turned off the C00 layer so that I could window select the 200+ objects making up the outline of the rib. Then I performed an ‘Auto-join selected shapes’ to give a single complete outline.
Yes. That’s exactly what I want to do. I’ll rewind and start this all over. PerhapsI did something to it that I’m not aware of. Thank you for your time, and the sanity check.
Marcus…
I tried what you wrote above, and it helped a lot. But I was still showing 155 objects at the bottom. The left end of the rib was still doing the same thing. So, out of desparation, I reset all settings back to factory defaults, tried your process again, and it worked like a charm!! So, I must have had a setting scrambled up somewhere, but do not know which one. Another problem for another day…
I wasted some time on this, but I learned a lot, so it was all worth it.
Thank you very much for your help.
Ok, I’m not sure which setting(s) might have caused that but at least you’ve got it working now. If you do find out perhaps you could let us know for future reference in case someone else has the same issue.
