I just acquired an old Xtool D1 Pro. Iwant to access it with the computer I currently use with my Universal Laser. Are there instructions somewhere about doing this?
All you do is set up a suitable Device for it, based on the controller it uses:
Configure that device to match the machine’s platform size, home corner, and so forth.
Then you select that Device in the Laser window:
Because Windows (re)assigns USB COM ports with no regard for your sanity, ensure you have selected the COM port corresponding to that machine now, as opposed to what it was yesterday.
XTool controllers seem to have … issues … with LightBurn, so update that puppy to the most recent firmware and trawl the forum for hints & tips to reduce the amount of headscratching required to get results.
Also, one instance of LightBurn can control one laser at a time. If you want two lasers running at once, you must start two LightBurn instances and connect each one to a separate laser. This is best done before starting a job on the first instance, because you never know what’s going to happen with COM ports …
…using two separate USB connectors on the PC. Hubs and switch boxes do not do very well.
Thanks for all the advice. I’ll get started on this project next week.
Because the two lasers will have different effects on the same material, you should also set up two Material Library files.
