I’m new to laser engraving. I have an Atomstack a5 m50 Pro. I set everything up a few days ago and all was working well. yesterday waiting on connection came up. I hace gone through the post to find how to fix it. I’ve tried all the suggestions and nothing is working. I was able to get it to work for a while. closed Lightburn out, came back later to do some more engraving and the waiting on connection is back. Can anyone help before i take a hammer to it!
What have you tried so far?
One thing to confirm is that the correct COM port is selected in Laser window.
Alternatively, try this:
- Shutdown LightBurn and power-off the laser
- Power-on the laser
- Start LightBurn
Does that result in a connected laser?
If not, can you check Windows Device Manager and confirm that a COM port is being created for the laser?
The only Com that comes up is 3. I have uninstalled reinstalled lightburn. Have turned both laser and light burn on and off. Nothing changes
I checked windows. All is working there
Have you attempted to explicitly choose that COM port?
Did you do it in the precise order listed above?
Can you take a screenshot of Device Manager showing the port? Also, test that Windows is actively creating and destroying the port when you turn the laser on and off.
i have 3 ports and have tried all of them. When I switch to a different port windows says it is working properly. i didn’t find a way to post a picture on here.
yes i picked com 3
You can paste anything from the clipboard, drag and drop from a file manager, or push the “upload” icon in the form toolbar.
Can you confirm that you tried restarting LightBurn and the laser in the specific order I listed? I want to rule that out as a potential issue.
yes I I tried restarting Lightburn and the laser in the order you said. nothing has changed
Were you able to confirm that a COM port is getting created/destroyed as you turn your laser on and off? Can you take a screenshot of Device Manager?
how do i find if it was created/destroyed? i looked up the ports in windows and it says they are functioning properly. im not ssuper computer savy . i cant figure out how to post the picture.
- Turn off laser
- Open Device Manager
- Check all available ports and take a screenshot
- Turn on laser
- Action->Scan for hardware changes
- Check all available ports and take a screenshot
If you take a screenshot in Windows it will automatically copy it to your clipboard. If you push CTRL-V in the form editor for the forum it will paste the last taken screenshot. Otherwise, using File Explorer browse to Photos->Screenshots folder, find the latest screenshots there, then drag and drop those screenshots to the form editor. Or, push the upload icon on the form editor, then navigate to Photos->Screenshots folder.
