Having issues connecting Monport Mega to lightburn. I am not sure where to start to remedy this. Any ideas?
The Mega looks like it has customized Ruida firmware, so LightBurn support may be minimal, no matter what Monport claims.
Does it have an Ethernet port? If so, do this:
If youâre stuck with USB, then making sure of the basics may help:
If none of that helps, give us more details on what youâve tried and what happened: help us see what youâre seeing.
Interesting âsetting the IP address on the controllerâ. That maybe why the lightburn bridge cannot find. Looks like I will start at the 1st one. I will keep this forum updated. Thanks.
âOn the Ruida controller, press the âZ/Uâ button to enter the menus.â This is where I am now. Can you put me in the right direction to find this menu?
For an ordinary laser with a Ruida 6442 controller (for example), youâd poke the Z/U
button on the machineâs control panel:
However, photos of the Mega show Monportâs custom firmware has done away with the panel in favor of their âintelligentâ M-Design Hub
program, so instructions for ordinary machines do you no good.
It is possible you can set the IP address through the Monport program, but the description says it supports only âWiFi / USBâ connections, so a hardwired Ethernet connection likely isnât possible. If you can find the WiFi address and set LightBurn to use it, that might work.
This seems like something you must figure out with Monport tech support, because the machine is definitely running customized firmware âŚ
Looks like MdesignHub has set an IP but lightburn still cannot detect.
This is what was sent to me.
You must then set that IP in LightBurn, because it cannot auto-detect network machines:
Remember:
- The laserâs IP address must be different than the PCâs IP address
- If theyâre connected to a LAN with a DHCP server, make sure the router cannot assign the laserâs static IP address to any other device
- If the WiFi connection is weak, expect data loss
Are you configuring your WIFI via the USB connection?
That appears to be what they are saying in your link.
There is a video showing how to do it with their software. Might be easier to follow that and set it up. Once done it should be usable via Lightburn.
Alright, it is up and running now. So they are running this as GCODE. Mega Configuration | Monport Laser Downloaded this file and went to import and used the downloaded file. It set everything up.
Question is: how did I look at the machine description and decide it had a modified Ruida controller?
Sorry 'bout that.
So many machines âŚ
