Connection Problems with Mac

New to the forum and I hope I posted this in the right section.
I’ve successfully used Lightburn on my MacBook Pro using my Acmer S1 laser for the past year.
Today I wanted to register the same License on another MacBook Pro running the same OS, Monterey. I successfully registered and installed Lightburn on my second Mac. I’ve also imported the Lightburn files from my first Mac but when I try to run it I get the error There was a problem sending data to the laser. The machine may be busy or paused."

I’ve restarted everything, tried multiple cables, but can not figure it out. I greatly appreciate any insight you can give me to resolve this problem.

I got it to work by choosing “USB Serial 1410” after Devices. But it doesn’t always show up when I launch Lightburn. How can I get this port to be recognized by default when I launch Lightburn?

RESOLVED!
I just had to choose the right serial port in my DEVICES list. Hopefully this will help someone else. Thank you!

Welcome.
Mark topic as solved to help others with the same issue.

It’s almost solved. It randomly disconnects during a job and I lose the port. The problem is that the USB serial 1410 port doesn;t always appear in the list to choose from. I’m consulting Grok right now and getting some ideas on how to solve it.

Check the following doc:

Also for Mac usually it´s better if you connect trough the cheapest USB 2.0 HUB you can find.

Thank you, I will check that out. The thing that threw me is that Lightburn works flawlessly on my 2024 MacBook Pro. But the other computer I’m working on, running the same OS is 7 years older.

Can you post a link to the driver you used?

I think the driver is CH340. See the comment just above for the link.
