Good afternoon,
I have already purchased the software license to use a machine that I built and use with Mach3, but now I want to build a machine exclusively for the laser. Can you tell me if either of these two boards are compatible with LightBurn?
That is, if I will be able to control the machine directly from the LightBurn software.
I built my machine and am using UNO R3 without shield.
Can’t tell you about option 2.
Ok perfect, thank you very much. So using UNO R3 you can control the machine directly from LightBurn and use all its functions? (move the axes, check area, etc etc)
The UNO will not drive the steppers directly, so there must be an interface board. It does not necessarily have to be a “shield” for the UNO R3.
Yes, sorry I run mine through stepper drivers.
So, the bare controller cannot directly run the cnc.
The controller runs GRBL and compatible with Lightburn.
Sure, CNC SHIELD V3 is mounted on the UNO R3 interface. The red board controls the motors and the blue board connects to the PC. What I wanted to be sure of was that by buying the 2 boards in option 1, I would be able to control the machine with LightBurn. If you tell me that you use the UNO R3 board and you can use it without any problem, great. Thank you very much.
Did you ever look at the MKS DCS32.
The Arduino is an 8bit 16mHz controller, the DCS32 is a 230mHz, 32bit controller (16bit pwm) that has wifi capability. Others here have it working through the wifi. It can also do use usb.
Good luck
Both boards will work. The only thing you need to make sure is that your target board runs grbl firmware. All boards using an Atmega 328 or an ESP32 chip are able to.
It just depends on how much time you want to spend in adjusting the firmware settings because boards sometimes have different pinouts. But that’s just a matter of configuration.
Good evening, ok perfect, I’ll evaluate this option too. Do you have this motherboard and can you control the device directly from LightBurn?
I don’t have the Lunyee you showed, but many of those are similar. Just search for “grbl mainboard” at AliExpress and you will find hundreds.
As already mentioned above, the most common are the MKS boards, DLC, DLC32 and the newest is LS ESP32 Pro. You will find the most examples for these boards.
I have many ones and each of them works similar (I often debug user problems or try other firmwares; therefore I also built a simulator ). You just sometimes have to find the pinout, but that’s all.
Good morning, ok perfect, I’ll go with one of the options you mentioned then.
I have a CNC router that I built, to which I added a laser head and I control it with Mach3. It was hard for me to find the right point to use it, but I managed to do it. But with Mach3 I miss out on many functions that LightBurn offers that would be useful to me, so now I want to build a simpler machine exclusively for the laser, precisely to be able to control it with LightBurn.
Thank you very much, your simulator is very good.
I am attaching images of my router.
