Controlling a Neje master 2

After some frustration and upgrading my license, I can now connect LightBurn Core 2.0.05 to my neje Master 2, Waiting for connection…

ok.

Thats it though, nothing I do from here makes my Neje do anything. Any clues greatly appreciated.

  1. You may have to install the CH340 driver. My new Win11 machine already had it.
  2. What Device Type did you select? If the Find Automatically fails, Manual setup is extremely easy. Pretty sure GRBL is the correct controller type for your machine.

Mike, Thanks for your reply< I do have the CH340 driver installed, and via com7 Successfully connected to my grbl device. From there though, nothing moves or lasers.

Load Lightburn and boot up the laser. Open the Console window. Copy and paste the text from that window in a reply.

Ok, that shows the laser is connected and talking to Lightburn.

In the Console window, enter $H. Does the machine perform a Home cycle?

I am curious, does the Benbox support GRBL commands? I am not familiar with that product.

$H does not cause the device to home.
The device has 2 operating modes, it’s own proprietary mode and very limited software, and grbl mode, with a yellow led advising active grbl mode (it’s on).

I’m close to scrapping the control board and building something from scratch.

That is unfortunate. As a last resort, search the forum for “benbox”. You might also try “benbox lightburn” in Google.

If you do switch controllers, there are a gazillion of GRBL 32-bit boards out there. Unless you have a Z axis, be sure to choose one described as a 2-axis unit for lasers. If Zaxis is included, it has to Home before X and Y will move.

Mike,

I appreciate your help and advice. Further research (avoiding cat porn) I found an obscure file NEJE GRBL Uploader, installed that (and about 50 other things in random order, Now I have a material test underway and I’m hugely happy.

Excellent, that is great news!

Let us know how the material test comes out.

Doing cut tests myself. With having issues with Baltic Birch plywood, just bought a batch of Basswood. Usual was 12” sq and 2.8mm, this is 12”x24” and 3.0mm (just figured out if I cut these into 12” sq pieces, it is somewhat cheaper than the old stuff).

3mm bass wood cut delightfully, made a dice.
Again, thanks for helping.
