I have found a trove of my old .rld files many of which took me hours of work. Any clues on how to open them so that I can use them in Lightburn. I am running a Prytec 100W on a Mac.
There are a couple of options for this:
- You can directly run RD files by pushing “Run RD file” in Laser window. This won’t allow you to change settings since the file is sent directly to the laser.
- You can open or import RD files into LightBurn. This is not the equivalent of having a saved .lbrn file, however. You will get the basic shape geometry but these will represent more the instructions sent to the laser rather than the original object definitions. For example, filled rectangles will come out as a series of staggered lines in the same area as the original shape. All shapes will import as open shapes. Speed, power, and layer assignment is retained but not any of the layer properties. Overall, this is good for giving you an idea of what the design looks like but not as a storage format. You could use this to help reconstruct your original design if that was all that was available to you.
Thanks for that, I’ll give it a try
