Copy&paste from Inkscape on MacOSX

Hi everyone, I recently switched from Windows to Mac and I’ve run into a problem. When I copy and paste from Inkscape, the pasted result is a raster image instead of a vector. Is there any way to copy vectors? I’ve already tried the latest versions of Inkscape and LightBurn.

Thank you
Davide

Different file formats.

To save a file as an SVG in Inkscape, go to File > Save a Copy and choose either Plain SVG or Optimized SVG from the dropdown menu. For general editing within Inkscape, use Inkscape SVG (File > Save), but for sharing or web use, Save a Copy to Plain SVG or Optimized SVG is recommended to ensure compatibility with other programs.

A little trial and error might be needed.

Apparently the clipboard can host a bunch of different formats from the same source and LightBurn may find the bitmap version before the vector version. I don’t know if there’s any way to specify which format you want to either copy or paste.

This discussion covers some of the gotchas:

I Import Inkscape SVG files and LightBurn does the right thing.
