.cor files and needing more resolution for non-linear lens distortion

Hello all,

I am trying to calibrate an F420/F429 lens for a 300 × 300 mm field.

I can get the field square in either LightBurn or EZCAD2/CorFile2, but I cannot get scaling to stay consistent across the whole field. If I scale so that a 100 mm square is correct, then a 280 mm square can be oversized by about 4 mm. If I scale for the 280 mm square, then the 100 mm square ends up too small. Issue is that I need sub-millimeter accuracy across the full field.

I had heard CorFile2 could do denser correction than the normal 9-point workflow, but I only see 9x9 and am only getting the same kind of result as LightBurn. CorFile2 does appear to have a ‘multi-points param’ section with grids up to about 65 × 65, which I can etch, but I cannot find any documentation on how that part is actually used. Like what next? What do I measure, and where do i enter that?

Has anyone here successfully used multi-point correction in CorFile2 as resolutions higher than 9x9? Is there a documented workflow for generating a denser .cor file?

More on topic here: is LightBurn likely to support higher-resolution field correction for large lenses like this?

Any insight appreciated.

oops, I mean 3x3, 9-point. Not 9x9
