Creality Falcon2 22W Laser Engraver

Hi everyone.
I’m new at the community and new with lazer Engraver. I bought resently one Falcon 22w and I want to ask if anyone has tried cutting and engraving in plexiglass.
My plexiglass is 4mm thickness and transparent.
I followed the instructions for speed and power but the result was that one of the marks he went to carve turned black so I stop the prosess.

A blue diode laser will be unable to engrave or cut clear acrylic. You may be able to engrave black or other dark colors.

Thank you very much for your answer.

You can engrave clear acrylic. But you need a black background to generate the heat. Many videos on this.

I wasn’t including that technique as actual engraving since the laser is not directly engraving the material. It’s rather the residual heat from the background material doing the surface marking. A good technique if that’s specifically the look you’re after, however.

In any case, doesn’t address the cutting aspect of it.

As they said.
A diode laser has not the right wavelength to cut clear acrylic.
For engraving, it is the same technique as for glass: either focus on bottom and put a black cardboard (or paint) below the pane, or paint the top in black and focus there.
The laser will actually heat the black layer and melt the acrylic (there might be micro-bubbles) or micro-fracture the glass (leaving white traces).

Hi again, i bought different colors acrylics it’s ok with the engraving BUT it doesn’t cut it. They are 3mm and the specifications of the machine say:
Cutting for black acrylic
Thickness: 7.6mm
Recommend power: 100
Recommended Work Speed: 120
Passes: 2
Were is the problem???

You will need to do material tests to find your cut settings.

Cutting black acrylic worked well for me. Well, they were thin sheets, 1 mm. I haven’t tried thicker yet. 10 W, one pass.
