Create multiple layers from 1 dxf?

I’ve got this DXF file, and I’m trying to have the outler rectangle be a separate CUT, while just engraving the inner lines.

I can’t figure out how to add another layer to do the 2 separate things.

Any help?

Select the outer lines, then click one of the palette buttons along the bottom to assign the selected shapes to that color. The layers are pre-set, so you’re not creating a layer, just assigning it, and any layers used in the design will show up in the Cuts/Layers window.
