I am trying to make a fancy business card that almost extends off the edge.
I have tried numerous searches but have not come up with much as I am limited by what search terms to use.
I have uploaded something like I want to create with my own logo and files so its to show what I am after
Otherwise, ive spent two days tracing, outlining, deleting nodes, etc and nothing is working
All i get to is this and im frustrated as ive deleted the nodes to drop the outline on the left but the nodes are still joined. Help me before i chuck the laser out the window !
This is the original file I have traced in LB then ungrouped, selected outer and set outline on.
The other element is just a rectangle 86x54mm that is the outline of the card size .
I am not sure if I am supposed to weld them together as the outlines or what but I am frustrated .
I really want to learn how this is done so I can repeat myself
If possible @bernd.dk requested you post the original .lbrn2 file for us to examine. If it’s proprietary then maybe pm OK, but we like to have the thread here to help others with similar issues…
You can drag and drop the file on the edit window and it will upload, or use the upload icon .
Are you wanting to cut it in two or part of it off?
There are some small problems with your head
I have removed the layers that could not be used, welded the outer lines together and made an offset of the whole thing with 0.5mm. After that, it’s a bit of node editing.
I hope you can use it, otherwise we will redo it.
…it’s not witchcraft or alchemy, unfortunately
When you play a little with the files I have sent, you will already be able to see the difference to the original. In the original there are also some elements I have welded together. The node edding itself is purely routine or a practice case, and you will also quickly get the hang of it if you like working with such things. It is perhaps worth mentioning that the “I,T,D” keys in conjunction with the mouse over the lines or points in edit mode are your best friend. Another great help is cmd+B to bring up the boolean assistant, with it is very easy to see what happens with the different options.
I downloaded his head (sounds fun) and made a square with the dimensions Andi wrote.
But yes, I definitely prefer an lbrn2 file when I have to look at a help or explanation case. This significantly shortens the workflow. But here it was perfectly fine.
