Creating a layer mask

I cannot figure out how to apply (or create) a layer mask. I have attached a screen shot to better explain what I am attempting to do. I wish to superimpose the partial image of the flag onto a picture frame that I am trying to create. I have been trying to do this for 2 days and figure it time to ask someone who knows the correct procedure.

If the flag is exclusively made up of closed shapes then try this.

  1. group the entirety of the flag
  2. group the inside and outside border for the frame
  3. select both the flag and border shapes
  4. Tools->Boolean intersection

Genius. However, the flag must completely cover the frame or the boolean intersection cuts off anything outside the flag’s perimeter. Not a problem. I thank You again! That is why you are the community leader. :smiley:

That shouldn’t be the case if the setup is correct. In any case glad you got what you needed.

If you want to explore this specific issue further then upload the .lbrn file for review.

Here is a no frills video using visuals on masking. I enjoy this content creator who is all substance and does not give you 20 minutes of fluff or tries to sell you anything.

:beers:
