Attempting to engrave a white YETI Rambler with a last name on my xTool D1 Pro 10W.
Wanted to use the crosshatch option for a cleaner finish but it ends up coming out slanted. Used another tumbler to run test pass.
I attempted to use a sublayer and do a offset fill but it doesn’t come out as clean as a crosshatch pass would in my experience.
Any idea what I’m missing here? Pulling my hair out trying to get a good burn on this white tumbler. Ironically, the slanted crosshatch pass comes out IMMACULATE!!
Also, the sublayer crosshatch pass does do a good job but I can’t completely get rid of these tiny lines inside the letters. Any idea how I can fix that? This would also solve my issue.
The leaning engrave is from your tumbler slipping on the rollers, IMHO. I used rollers for almost 10 minutes before I ordered a chuck rotary. It has served me very well carving tumblers.
For my systems, an Ortur LMP2 with a 10 watt laser, I get lines in my roller engraves when the scan angle is 00, no matter what my line interval is set to. If I go to a 90 degree scan, I get beautiful clean shiny engraves.
And +1 to the above recommendation to not use OFFSET fill on your rotary. The mass of the tumbler is very high compared to the laser, and the machine can struggle with the acceleration differential of the two axis.
