I saw a video on where you can change the device settings so you get max cut by changing the S-value. At the moment my S- cut value is 255 using a Ortur laser master 3. The guy in the video was using cut setting at 150 speed at 100 max cutting. His cut value was 1000 but increased it to 10000, where it cut much deeper. Can i increase my max value to what and will the higher power decrease the life of the laser (https://youtube.com/watch?v=AgzPx4wxpXw&si=9i0lni7WTyANleJT)
What he really said was your controller settings and Lightburn settings need to match.
And of course, running your laser at max all the time will shorten its life.
The controller uses a minimum and maximum spindle speed and so does Lightburn. You can’t get any higher that 100% no matter how you manipulate the numbers.
Only if it was incorrectly configured in the first place. I don’t know what he changed, you were not very specific, but what you wrote and the way these work are not even in agreement.
If the controller/software thinks the output is based on 10,000 rpm (a value of 10000) then 50% of that value, will generate a speed value of 5,000, if 1000, then the speed value will be 500.
If the controller thinks maximum value is 1000, then anything over 1000 will be 100% laser power.
If I could increase my laser power this way, who’d buy a more powerful machine/module? It’s pretty indicative to a misunderstanding of how these work.
Thanks for your answers. Best to asked first as Youtube is a place of learning where some videos are not what things seem. Thats why i come on this great forum which is where the real experts are. many thanks.
