Has anyone successfully been able to cut metal? Like all the way through. I am engraving in 1-1.5 mm thick sheets of brass, the engraving seems to work close to perfect, still messing around with the settings. However, trying to cut just won’t work. At best there is a mark where the intended cut was meant to be, possibly not even 0.1 mm deep.
My settings for the intended cutting: layer is a line
Power: 100%
Speed: Tried everything from 1 mm/sec to 1000 mm/sec
Frequency: 30
Passes: Tried everything from 5 to 50 passes.
Love to hear from anyone of you who did it successfully and feel to share some info about it.
Have you tried with Wobble enabled? I’ve had some success with that. Intermittent cleaning passes too. And even more passes. You should be aiming for highest material removal rate at lowest thermal input. I think I got through ~0.8mm Ti sheet on a 20 MOPA using a combination of those, and something like 120 passes.
You can also use the material test in line mode with wobble enabled to dial it in. I did frequency vs # passes at fixed speed of 4000mm/s iirc.
