I want to cut some heart shapes for Christmas and have imported the image. The laser is going side to side and taking a long time to finish. How can I get it to follow the outline instead?
Hi Colin,
Your heart shapes likely imported as a bitmap, not a vector - that means LightBurn sees it as a series of pixels rather than outlines that it can trace, so LightBurn tries to fill the pixels in scanning them line by line.
LightBurn has a Trace tool built in to convert bitmaps to vector lines that can be traced. This video on our YouTube Channel goes into more detail: LightBurn Basics - Image Trace - YouTube
And here is our page on the documentation: Image Tracing - LightBurn Software Documentation
To summarize, click the imported image, press (Alt+T) and adjust the sliders as needed, and LightBurn will process the image into a vector. You will likely want to delete or turn off the image layer from the Layers pane on the top right after this is done. Then adjust your cut settings and size and you’re off to the races!
