Cutting CDX Severe Weather Plywood

Can I cut Severe Weather 15/32-in x 4-ft x 8-ft CDX Pressure Treated Southern Yellow Pine Plywood Sheathing on laser to use for small outdoor sign if painted correct?

Every single one of those attributes works against successful laser cuttery:

  1. “Severe weather” → waterproof glue
  2. The CDX rating: “D is the lowest rating that denotes a lower level of quality”
  3. “Pressure treated” means it’s saturated with pesticides / preservatives
  4. “Yellow Pine” → plenty of gooey resinous sap
  5. “Sheathing” → gnarly surface texture

So, while it may be possible to cut / engrave that stuff, neither your laser nor your lungs will thank you afterward.

If you must make signs from it, a CNC router seems a better tool for the job.
