I am brand new to laser work, have done some engraving. Attempting to cut some names from a thin wood. I am using a Sculptfun S6 Pro… Cannot for the life of me get the settings correct. Not familiar with all the terminology, so if someone can explain in true beginners language, that would be great!
Welcome to laser fun. You’ll get it dialed in soon.
Someone had a similar question re. cut settings for thin plywoods. See here.
Hello Camille and welcome to the forum. Keep in mind that although you know the issues and what you’ve done, we do not.
Lasers are critical on what materials you are using… thin is relative… exactly what thickness and type of wood are you working with?
A 1" thick piece is thin when framing a home… The devils in the details…
I believe it is called basswood, dollar tree pieces to start and small pieces from hobby lobby. Does this help?
I believe people use this all the time… I have a stack of it I use on the co2 laser. It’s usually pretty thin, like 3mm so it cuts more easily. The type I get from Amazon is really an MDF composite.
You should be able to cut this, but I’ll let someone with your machine advise you. I don’t cut much of anything with the hobby led lasers I have.
Good luck…
