Made 1st project without any problems , however after laser cut project the cut was right through honeycomb into the bench top - is there a setting to control depth or should I have metal under honeycomb??
Please think a little bit. Honeycomb is delivered with metal base.
What do you think that laser beam will do at the bottom without base? It will burn your table.
Honeycomb only serves that there is void below object and LASER beam can pass through. Without honeycomb the bottom side of material beeing cut would be burned. If you do not have honeycomb use small nuts to make distance between material and metal plate.
Thanks for quick reply - the honeycomb I bought did not come with a metal base, so I will make one - thankyou.
I pitched my honeycomb and use only a metal plate on the co2 machine…
It also allows for a few holes for alignment jigs.
Mine did, but I used plain aluminum foil under my supported parts until the honeycomb arrived.
@jkwilborn has valid arguments, and warnings, for not using a honeycomb. Search for “honeycomb” to see what he has to say.
This is because the smoke has no place to go. I also read someone used metal window screen (did not say if it was aluminum) as a support, after I bought my honeycomb of course.

You can use nails, screws, nuts or whatever else to make distance between material beeing cut. For your first experiments it is good enough to improvise this way.
Macadamia nuts work good, but if I mix in some marshmallows, I think peanuts pair better.
Do they get toasted?
Like Cheech & Chong on the way to Woodstock.
No, smoked
